Hey guys. I know this is not the place for DIY'ers. That being said, I actually hired someone to come install my new thermostat because I didn't want to mess anything up. The guy was not the best. I have the new thermostat in and everything works besides the AC. He had to leave for the night and I am without AC. It is beyond hot in my house so I am looking at the thing myself. All the wires are matched up correctly. Everything else works (furnace, fan). When I turn it to cold the fan blows but the AC unit doesnt turn on. The troubleshooter said to short the "Y" wire on the "RC" terminal. When he did that the AC unit would make a clicking noise but not turn on. If anyone has any advice it would help. I am tempted to just call someone else tomorrow because I have no faith in the installer I had. I also don't trust that he will not rip me off. Sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. I am just trying to get some cold air in here for my family tonight.
