I had a Lennox HS27-024-4P installed in 2003.

We have the company who installed it come out for A/C start ups each year. This year the Tech guy wrote the compressor readings on our bill...
SUCTION: 65 PSI
HEAD: 120 PSI
He told us the 120 reading should be at 200 and also wrote on our bill that: Compresor efficiency is low.

He told us we need to start looking at getting it replaced.

We have a 10 year warranty, so I called the office and told them what their tech told me. They said they would call me back. The owner calls me back and says that he does not believe the reading that the tech took is accurate and said they would like to come out and test it again next week.

Does this sound normal? OK? Any feedback would be really cool. I have no idea about all this stuff and would just like to hear from people who do.

Thanks!!!
Octi

Twilly says kind of maybe depends could be. Let the owner come out and check it.

Really stupid question, is unit operating normally? Isn't this a two stage unit? (I'm rusty on Lennox units). What's the superheat/subcool numbers? Holler back with what the owner actually finds out!:.02:

Not much info to go on here!

If it is 60 degrees outside it could be perfect if it is a 100 degrees outside it is way off lots of varibles that need to be fiquired into the equasion .

Maybe he didn't get an accurate reading...
I doubt the compressor is bad.

Some things that can cause low suction, low head, & low compressor amp draw are:
Suction line restriction - upstream between service port & E-Coil Unbalanced heat load on evaporator circuits Insufficient airflow heatload through the evap-coil Insufficient charge - with piston orifice meter What were the outdoor & indoor temps?
At 85-F outdoors 80-F indoors & 50% RH; 203 head, 81 suction; low suction indicates there would not be 200-Head pressure.
