I have a 2BR condo that I rent out. Room 1 is next to the air handler and room 2 is about 20 ft away.

Room 1 gets very cold so I have closed down the vent some to limit the airflow into that room. Room 2 faces directly west and that side of the condo has a sliding glass door and a couple of windows and is hot in the evening.

Am I better off having the a/c contractor:

1. Install scoops to redirect the air, or
2. Install a larger duct going to room 2 or
3. Install an additional duct to room 2

Thanks,

Mike

Any thoughts? I need to have the work done soon as my tenant is complaining.

There isn't much in the way of advice anyone who hasn't been to the site can give, especially with how little information has been provided.

scoops are horrid for airflow and efficiency. larger duct may help, if you balance the other rooms to redirect the air into the heavy load room. additional duct will only help if again, the other rooms get reductions in airflow.
it's also possible the system is in need of maintenance. perhaps the system is dirty and you are not getting the rated capacity of cooling that the system was designed for.

Look for a closed damper.
