I bought a Fieldpiece SC77 brand new for dirt cheap, but didn't realize till I got home that it doesn't come with a magnet. Any ideas on where to get a magnetic hanger.
Help me out :gah:

I understand that feeling of needing a magnet. I used a uei dl289 or something previous to my sc77 & the only thing i liked about it was that magnet.

You got that right :grin2:, I will either glue or get a strap for this one because I want the magnet . I love pawn shops.

I have the 76 and I also wish I had a magnet, havent found accessories like that for fieldpiece like you do for fluke, I usually end up clamping it around a pipe or something else along those lines, eventually o'll glue a magnet on to the back of it.

I was thinking of putting a magnet on a piece of plastic and putting it to my meter. What would you recommend o.o epoxy or jb weld :D

Someone once mentioned to me gluing a magnet on the back of my sc77 could screw up the way it functions . . I'm not sure if it's true

I would use E6000 Glue. It's stupid strong and stays a little flexible.
You might ask Fieldpiece if the SC77 can handle a strong magnet mounted on the meter though. They made it sound like some meters could not handle it but not sure if it was implied about "other" guys meters.

I was wondering if a magnet would affect the sc77 if it was epoxy'd to the back without the strap?

Help me out :gah:I've got the SC77. What is the magnetic hanger? Is it an attachment accessory? Got a link?

one of my buddy's from work also has a sc76 and he did glue a magnet on the back of his, it seems to work well sometimes for him, i think the magnet he put on his was too small for the meter, the sc76 and 77 aren't horribly heavy but unless you have a decent sized magnet on it I would imagine it wont be too effective

It doesn't have an attachment for a magnet. I wanted to epoxy it to the back of the meter.

The magnets from the back of my old uei meter were seriously strong & very small. Where can one go to buy magnets?

Russel Harju from Fieldpiece has responded to this before stating that magnets can mess up certain functions when too close such as on the case. A magnet on a strap is ok.
IMHO the SC 56 is the best meter--has every function you need, sleek, strong, one hand dial operation, slim profile fits in bag better and accurate. BTW, I can use the amp clamp to grab a lid and hang it off the top of a condenser or grab a bundle of wires and hang.

I guess the magnet only messes things up when in operation?? as the magnets are parked on the back of the meter......
I've got the 56 too (love it).....but, sometimes the strap would be handy, as well as a place to park the leads.
I'm thinkin about a backup meter, kickin around another 56, or another RMS model.....can't beat the functions of the 56 though!

My company sells fieldpiece and they don't offer that stuff on their single items. They would rather want you to buy the more expensive kits to get all the goodies with it. That's just how they work.
