Tempstar TX 5300 or Lennox XC13

We can't comment on brands. Just get the best warranty coverage, from the highest quality dealer and installed correctly and you'll be happy. Make sure someone has sized your units correctly also.:.02:

The Lennox is a solid but no frills 13 SEER. Nicer than the Mexican Merit unit, I think the only extra to it is a high pressure switch for protection of the compressor if the refrigerant pressure gets too high.

The Tempstar is a deluxe unit. High & low pressure switches connected to a Copeland Comfort Alert diagnostics module. Usually don't see that in a 13 SEER. Also 2 speed fan motor and compressor cover, also not real common in that category. So will end up a little quieter than most 13s, especially when the fan is on low.

Of course, key is best possible install and sized right.
