Roboteq,
Yes you are right about the tread and no need for you to apologize. Any way back to my question. I can have installed an CLT42 condenser which will have a sensible BTU of 28,000. My old unit a CLJ36 had a sensible of 26,3000 BTU. CLT 42 will work with my CAPX042B2A coil with a TXV and a GMV80704B right? I had the inside done in December. Also the other big question is I see it says that you need a 1 1/8 suction line to get full capacity at 25 feet and over? I measured the line and it is at about 25 feet without any 90. So I will also need the lines and the TXV replaced right? Just want to make sure I get it done right. Thank you very much for the help. jmb

OK, I can see where you are going and what it is you are wanting to achieve.
Unless there is a capacity issue with the existing 3 ton, I would stay with a 3 ton unit. You have proof enough that a 13 SEER 3 ton unit will work with the coil you have, you just won't achieve 13 SEER.
What you will achieve and again have already proved it, is a really good dehumidification factor using that existing coil.
I would not be in the least bit concerned with the minimal amount of difference in capacity from not having a 1-1/8" suction line. If it were me and I had a 7/8" suction line, that is what I would use.
What you are doing is basically what I have always recommended doing in all but very arid areas. Unfortunately, with the 13 SEER minimum, manufacturers are no longer allowed to rate better dehumidifying matchups that don't achieve 13 SEER.

Are you going to fix your little red house? I can't see the fat cat with your link like that. ;)
AHHHHHH. Ok I am better now. I am not sure how the new system will work. I have not yet been through the nice Dallas Texas summer yet with the new inside stuff. I just want to be safe I would rather go up just a hair then go down any. I did take a look at the suction line and it is 3/4 out of the evaporator runs into the attic then inside the brick then out of the brick into a 45 which changes it to 7/8 with a filter dryer and 7/8 into the condenser. So that does need to be replaced with all 7/8.

Yea...3/4" is a bit small. Why is there a filter/drier on the suction line?
Before I moved in the outside unit was repalced. I guess due to a bunout. Discharge line also had a filter on it near the inside coil. Inside filter was remove when the new inside stuff was put in. Out side unit was never touched.

I have no control over the little red house link....I don't think. The colon goes before the forward slashes. Put your mouse over my little red house and you'll see what I mean. I don't have access to the admin site to fix your house. So, you'll have to do it yourself.
