Our Infinity system was installed today and hooked up, although the job isn't complete it's operational. For the last couple days the outside air temp has been about 90 degrees.

The install is not yet completed, the furnace is in, the filter rack, the ac condenser, cased coil, plenum and the return drop are all installed. The main overhead return main run is still needing to be installed - a few returns were added so this job was unable to get finished and we wanted the air back on.

Anyway, before he left at about 3:30 this afternoon the house was 89 degrees and now it's 75! This infinity system works awsome!

Although tonight our families eyes are sore and itchy? The house was lost to humidity with the AC off for a couple of days, was totally miserable, we have a whole new appreciation for air conditioning.

Do you think this irritation could be due to the rapid cooling that took place, the unit cooled this house down fast! Or is there some new oils that could come from new equipment? The entire system is all new carrier Infinity (including the control)

They will be back next week to finish, they went thru some basic infinity control operation but don't really understand the features of dehumidification...so we're operating from the basic schedule for now.

thompsing, i would speculate the irritants you are experiencing are coming from within your house, not the equipment. many building materials available for the interior are loaded with such chemicals as formaldyhyde, acetones, keytones, etc., and are being released into the air because of the dehumidification. if this is the case, once equilibrium is reached, you will not notice the effects. assess your house and evaluate wall coverings, moldings, finishes, and cleaning products. many cleaning products that smell good are a good source of irritants!
i personally can not tolerate any cleaner that smells of pine. it will drive me outdoors in a heatbeat! air fresheners are another source! we are declaring chemical warfare on ourselves and don't even realize it.

Now I have had someone complain about this but it was getting the oils off the coil and furnace during the heating cycle. Don't know if it could of been hot enough during the summer to do that. I would doubt it. If so it shouldn't last too long. Usually takes about 15 minutes during the heating cycle to get the oils off and then air out the house.

Probably the itch is coming from dust within the duct work, that has not been trapped by the filters yet. Consult a doctor for best advice on monitoring the changes.
