My sister in Athens, Georgia needs to replace an old package system and go from a ac/furnace to heat pump only.
She will buy from reputable contractor who will do a load calc. So we will know what dealer to contact, what are good makes and models to consider for HSPF? Also, how can she make sure she has adequate heat strips capacity for unusually cold weather (say below 15 degrees)?
Any suggestions from you professionals will be much appreciated.

Maybe I didn't ask it right.

Maybe someone will know of a good dealer in Athens.
Everyone has their own opinion of what brand to get. Key is proper size and best possible install. A GOOD dealer will do a heat gain/loss survey and make sure it is the right size and have the correct backup.
as posted earlier, I'm shopping for a new package unit for mom and her only request to me was to find unit that keeps house at about 80F and RH% below 50
I would have already installed a Trane XL1600 but it lacks independent control for dehumidification and Comfort-R is useless to mom. There is no way to initiate separate dehumidification, not even with overcooling as this unit is missing R-BK at the ECM Board.

I would investigate Carrier's Package Hybrid Infinity System(dual fuel) and Package Infinity Heat Pump System. Both claim to be able to control humidity like Carrier's Infinity split systems.

Good LucK!
