Looking to replace older Carrier unit installed at NJ shore
Have some local contractors coming out in the next few weeks for price quotes
Been looking at Carriers website and would prefer the quietest unit if not price prohibitive
Base model 24ABB3 has sound "as low as 72dB
Performance model 24ACC6 is identical
Performance model 24APA5 is 66dB
Question: Is the 24APA5 at 66dB noticeably quieter and is it worth the price differential (not sure what that price diff is)

Look up a decibel comparison chart...it's a really big difference.

Got some price quotes from a local installer
New Carrier 24ACC636A003 36,000BTU AC unit
with Carrier CNPVP36171ATA coil
Move AC to new platform in back yard and replace all electric and hookups
$$$$$

Need to know if these are compatible units and if the price seems about right

They are compatible. Requires time delay relay to be installed on the indoor fan to achieve rated performance. AHRI # = 3656416

Cannot answer about the price.

Got 2nd price quote

If you go with the 24ACC636, your total contract price would be $
If you go with the 24ACB736, your total contract price would be $.
Please let me know which one you would like to substitute.

Is the 1 speed good enough or is the 2 speed better??
I'm not replacing the heater which does not have VS blower

Thanks

Please do not put pricing in your posts.

You will be wasting your money on the 2 speed if the indoor unit is not designed for two speed AC operation and certified match to the AC you are installing.
