My Condenser fan went out and was replaced. Unit worked great for about two hours. fan began to make loud noise and vibration. Unit continued cooling great. The replacement motor had a shaft that was about 9" too long. repairman said bad bearing and brought out new motor with the same shaft that was too long. It was installed and made the same noise. Repairman said noise caused by blade and took fan motor and blade to vendor. He is returning with new motor and blade today. What does this sound like to you???

Many replacement motors are universal, and are designed for many applications, the condenser motor replacements I use have a long shaft. I never cut the shaft off, unless it's a shaft down motor and the compressor is under it and in the way. The shaft has nothing to do with the vibration, more than likely maybe the blade was out of balance or bent, and probably helped cause the first failure, but we don't know this until we have a running motor installed, unless it's something visible. Did he check the RPM's? a 1025 won't work on a 825 blade, well not for very long, the motor will overheat.
