wirelessly communicating thermostats

Current thermostat for a Ruud 2.5 ton heat pump is a broken Braeburn and will be replaced on Friday. It's downstairs, and the single return is upstairs. Does there exist a pair of thermostats that communicate wirelessly, with the downstairs stat wired in the usual manner and the upstairs stat either battery powered or line voltage. The idea being that the HO could choose which stat governs at any given time. Has anybody seen a reliable pair of this type?

Hmmm. Not exactly what I had in mind. There is no need to display outdoor temperature and humidity, and this is not a zoned system.

Honeywell is certainly a good brand, but still looks like too many bells and whistles. What do you see that looks like a good match?

A Prestige stat and a portable comfort control is what you need.

Wire the Prestige downstairs and take the wireless comfort control upstairs,You tell it which one you want to control the system.

This is what you need and if you have a heat pump your stat should read outdoor temp or it may not be setup for the lowest operating costs.

Current stat does NOT read outdoor temp, and the system is not designed for lowest operating cost. I still think the Honeywell pair has too many bells and whistles. I'm just trying to find the lowest cost solution to upstairs comfort issues. Sometimes on winter nights (when the heat strips kick in) the upstairs temp goes above 80 when the downstairs stat is set at 68.

Here is a slightly simpler Honeywell set up. The stat itself is very basic and can still be linked to the portable remote. Outdoor temp is an optional accessory. I have not seen a comparable product from any other brand. Even if there was, Honeywell does it better :)

Honeywell has the best thing going to resolve the issue you have. For a couple $ I'll take the comfort that this setup will give you.
How can you sleep at 80* in your bedroom in the winter?:.02:
