I've got a Williamson gas furnance and I can't find any info on it. My HVAC man thinks he can put an A coil in from a new heat pump/AC but he's not sure if there is enough air flow. I can't find any info about Williamson furnaces on the web. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Williamson was made in Cincinnati. It is probably very old. Most of them had drum type heat exchangers and blocked the air flow somewhat. My suggestion is to replace that old williamson with a new more efficient unit and the A/C will be no problem at all. BTW Williamson is out of business in Cincinnati.

My boss sold Willies for 25 years. Tanks! If you can come up with a model # I can tell you the specs.

If you got the old "True" Williamson, remove the front cover (Burner area) and the model Sticker should be on the right hand side.

I've worked on many Williamson 5-in-1 furnaces. That's more than likely a belt drive furnace. It's gotta be 25+ years old, if you're adding A/C you're gambling. They will probably have to do re-wiring to the furnace so it will accomodate the A/C.

My suggestion? Rip it out and get a new furnace too.

A model number would be handy. I think that Goodman was building the Williamson gas furnaces for a few years.

Purchased in 1991 by Sunderland which was purchased by Hupp industries in 1990 then purchased by hupp, assets acquired by MetzgerMachine Corp milwaukee, wi., manufacturer of hvac equip. under Milwaukee Thermoflo trade name. If this doesnt help have one more book, to lazy to go get it.

Thank you all very much for your advise. I have the model number now: WU47122N21. It was located on the inside right panel as described. The house is 20 years old and when it was built natural gas was not available in the area. The gas furnace was added some years later. It sets right next to a York heat pump that is 20 years old. That's what I plan on replacing.

manufactured in 1987, 125,000 btu. not sure of the blower size, but would suspect 5 ton.

that is pretty old, you may want to consider replacing at the same time. at the very least have it looked over thouroughly.

Probably one of the old Preway 90s. Should have plenty of blower. This furnace became the 1st Trane 90 as A-S/Trane bought Preway's design. Check the heat exchanger carefully, they liked to split open!

I am trying to figure out or assign an efficiency for a 1980 Oil fired Williamson Tempomatic High Boy design. Anybody have a suggestion where I could find this or what it may be. Thanks

As far as annual efficiency which affects the oil bill, I'd say around 60%.

I have a Williamson Gas Central Furnace. Am I correct in think that this furnace was built in 1988. Model is a T114-12-5
The first three digits in the quarter, manufacture date is B883.

I am thinking about getting it replaced because the Pilot lit keeps going out on it.

I would diffenetly suggest changing it out. Why not go duel fuel while your at it ;).
That...and I didn't think you were really supposed to try and match new outdoor units with belt drive blowers...?

I bought my first house late last winter, near the end of heating season.

The Nat Gas Forced hot air furnace is a Williamson Special, model 1524-10 serial #1171.

Does this info mean anything to anyone here? It is rated at 100,000 btu input, 80,000 bunnet? Temp rise 70 to 105 F ???

Most of this means nothing to me. I know enough to light the pilot, change the filter and I even took off the burner cover and shop vacc'd the heat exchanger this fall.

Seems I have a common complaint, about odor. This old beast smells like hot rusty metal (cutting torch) when coming to temp before the blower comes on, worse when it has been sitting for a few days, better after running regularly.

To me it seems to look and function fine, CO detector is happy. My only worry is about the smell and the 2 to 3 minute warm up time. The heat out of all the vents is continually burn-your-toes hot !!!

Any ideas on the age?

Tips?

Thanks All..

Those older furnace runs hotter, so you will have that "smell" when it first starts off.

If the smell stays, then the blower may be running too slow. A temp rise reading will be needed to see if it falls in between the temp rise reading you've posted.

My son has rented a home which has a Williamson Gas Fired Forced Air Furnace. The model number is T115-12-2, Style 134. He is planning on replacing the furnace and would like to know the BTU output and effiency of this 30 year old propane guzzler.

Around 125K input, 100K output, 55-60% AFUE.

Does the landlord know your son is changing the furnace?

Make sure the dealer does a load calc on the home to get the correct size furnace, don't go by what's there now.

I have a few questions about a Williamsons 5 in 1. My model number is C110-25 Style E.

I know its old and stuff but it semi working atm but having some problems with my gas valvle that controls the burner. I have taken it to some local shops and they cant seem to find my part in there system saying its too old.

I have to try to find a replacement control valve since i think that is the cheaper route for the time being untill i can afford a new furnace. Any tips or tricks on where to get older spare parts for this unit ?

I will explain the problem with the valve. Thermostat tells the control board to start pumping gas but the solenoid( i think its a solenoid anyway) wont open until i touch the cable and barely wiggle it a little bit and i can then hear a loud click from the valve and the burner fires up. I have replaced all the wiring from the valve to the circuit board and still its doing this. Once i move the wire connector some and it start it will run untill it heats up to the desired temparature per the thermostat and then it will shut off and i have to go and wiggle the connection again for it to fire up again.

I know this is a long shot but have to atleast try before i go and sell my kidneys or something to pay for a new furnace.

Thanks in advance for any replies.
