Anyone know about the Broan systems? Was looking at a TRANE 14-16 seer but found a guy who says Broan is as good and cheaper. If you have a BROAN I want to here from you. Mike

Broan is a Nordyne brand, like Tappan, Maytag, Frigidaire and Westinghouse. The stuff is only as good as the installer. I have Tappan myself.

BaldLoonie, How long have you had yours? Has it been very reliable and efficient? The installer seems to know his stuff but, I know nothing. I may be easily impressed by his salesmanship. What are the key things to ask so I know he's gonna do the job right? Mike

I'm at about 2.5 years old. So far so good. Came with a howling outdoor fan motor which I replaced right away. Otherwise been fine. Cools great, better than the same size unit I replaced. Still can't figure that out. It's a FT4BD which is 13 SEER but rates at 14 with the variable speed blower in the 95% furnace.
First, ask him how he sized the system.
Does he flow nitrogen when he brazes?
Does he have and use a micron gauge?
If he ran a heat gain/loss study, that's good and the answer to the next questions need to be yes.
