1) Can someone tell me what the difference between the Rheem heat pump 15PJL30A01 vs the RPQL030JEZ units? The unit will be paired with the Rheem air handler RHKLHM3617A.

The HVAC contractor I'm going to use has quoted a price for the 15PJL unit and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to the RPQL unit.

2) Also, original 1974 metal ducts in attic covered with asbestos. Contractor would replace metal ducts (8 registers) with flex type duct.

Should I replace ducting or see how new heat pump package works?

Thanks for any input.

the 15pjl is the value line

the rpql is the prestige line and has a 5 year no-lemons warranty on compressor
it also is whisper quiet.

They both qualify for 10yr parts and compressor once registered.

Id go with the RPQL its what I have in my house. Nice unit. Extremely quiet.

The PJL is a WeatherKing with a Rheem sticker.

The cubes in the 10 & 12 SEER days were nightmares. I hate seeing the boys sell the 13s & 15s. The JEZ adds a really nice diagnosing board so it is so easy to tell what's going on with the system. High pressure switch which the cube doesn't have. Compressor sound blanket, 5 year replacement pledge as has been pointed out. If I were going Rheem, it would like to go that route, no PJLs!
