View Full Version : Remote temperature adjustment – i.e. via smartphone
I have a year old AS Heat pump with an IAQ VisionPRO T-stat. The system is great. Lately I’ve learned about the Prestige 2.0 T-stat and would like to upgrade. Unfortunately, when my contractor and I discussed T-stats, he didn’t discuss the Prestige line and its benefits. The VisionPRO was the “best” he offered. We are often away from the house for odd periods and it would be nice to be able to drop and raise the temperature from a smart phone. What is involved in changing over? Looking at the two systems, it appears that I’ll need to change the entire system, including the EIM.
Is there any way to get smart phone access to a VisionPRO IAQ, without replacing it with the Prestige?
Thanks in advance.

I know of nothing to hook the VP IAQ to remote. This whole internet gateway thing is new so might not have been out when you got your system. I just put in a Prestige IAQ in my house. Didn't get the gateway though. It is a complete new system, EIM & stat.

Gateway came out last November and I didn't get my "contractor hook up unit" until January this year. The Prestige 2.0 wasn't even out until around December of last year so at the time the VP IAQ was probably the best, but the prestige 1.0 has been available since 2007 or 2008 and it was forwards compatible with the redlink gateway.
Oh and IMHO stay away from the ecobee and nest.
Thanks Guys. Apparently I inadvertantly missed the boat on timing. I'll take a look at the cost for the Prestige with the Gateway and see if it makes sense to scrap out the IAQ and go with the Prestige. I'm thinking it will not make economical sense. The "cool" factor will be there, but that's not why I'm looking at making this change.
