I have been waiting to hear from my contractor about how we should handle this. It makes a resonating drone in the wall with the lineset. The lineset is the original that was set up with 22-a and now has 410-a in it. He has come over and he is unsure how to solve the problem. He has lineset isolators that he has used in NYC many times, but for different reasons. He cannot guarantee that they will solve my problem. We are also considering running new lines, but he is hesitant because another one of their installs, also in my complex, claims to have the same drone on the second floor and he has his lines run on the outside in a gutter leader- like enclosure.
What are these line isolators, what do they do and might they help?

Trane units tend to move more refrigerant than most other units on the market. Which sometimes results in a noise issue.
Also, the linest may have been disturbed during install. I've been to a few, where a snug pull from the top and a strap to hold the lineset up has repaired the noise challenge permenantly.

That is the first time I have heard that about the Trane units and I hope this is not a permanent problem I have to live with. Shouldn't a new lineset, run up the exterior, instead of using the existing in my wall, solve this problem? Thanks.
Also, anybody know about the line isolators?

Is it a one story house or are the linesets easy to get to? The installer should have run a new lineset from the get go in my opinion.

Did you have them look at installing an adjustable discharge muffler from Refrigeration Research?
I am going to guess the line isolators they are refereeing to is made of heave dense rubber and slides over tubing to ad mass to the line to absorb noise.

It is a second floor condo, with no access to the lineset in the first floor wall.
I will mention the muffler from that brand. In theory, shouldn't an exterior lineset solve this?

I would think a new lineset is in order, but you obviously didn't get a quote with new lineset , If contractor exclaimed that you needed a new LS and you declined than you are up a creek, however if contractor did not explain to you that indeed you should change LS because of changeover to r410 than once again you are up the creek. On the other hand if cont. told you you did not need LS for any reason at all than he could be on the hook for a new LS. JMO.

There were two options:
new lineset
flush existing
I went with flush existing because I live in a condo and they would like to avoid new linesets running up the exterior. There is no way to put a new lineset in the wall, there is no access, as the lower unit is owned by someone else. I realize that I will have to pay for the lineset. I have no issue with that.

Would your first post about your neighbor not answer the theory of exterior line set?

Why?
There's no reason to run a new lineset.
And even a new lineset may not fix the challenge he is having.

Well the contractor is going to give me a price to run a new lineset. But, I am not going for it until I go to hear my neighbor's set up again when the temp gets hot enough for a/c or cool enough for heat again. I went there last night and I could hear the sound, but it was very light. I then put my heat on and mine was not bad either. But, it was 70 degrees outside and at one point it reached 76 during the day. I had the a/c on during the day and it was quiet. One person on this forum had mentioned that it won't be as bad when it is in a/c mode. If that is the case, I may keep it the way it is.
I asked my guy about the discharge muffler and he had no opinon. I will ask him again.
I've got to say, I wonder if it is a problem with the Trane design.
I am going to call Refrigeration Research next week and get some info on the discharge mufflers. My contractor got back to me and he has no opinion on the discharge mufflers.
