Was talking to a fellow tech and he has seen some issues on a new Goodman HP.
He sat a goodman 5 ton single phase heat pump GSZ130601 unit only to have a stuck reversing valve. Or 4 way valve if you fancy!
Would not pump either direction.
Got a replacement condensor only to have it do the same thing.
They put a 3rd 14seer condensor in and all was fine.
Will we see widespread problems?

I'd like to know the rest of the story as well.
Because, simply put, I've NEVER seen two condensers from the same mfg be DOA in a row, EVER. I'm betting your buddy either misdiagnosed or did something wrong.

I thought the same thing at first too.
I don't think anything they did caused the first two condensors to not pump.
The model # of unit in question GSZ130601AD that is a precharged 410A unit.
Serials 1201124381 and 1202136829

I just changed a Reversing Valve in one today, in the rain, and we've got 5 more to go. These things are evil. :censored: Cheap, Chinese, P.O.S. valves! And a real :censored: to replace as well! Glad it's not winter.

That would only be with a parts and labor warranty.... Not just parts only, right?

guys it doesnt matter about the warranty, if you install a new piece of equipment and its doa or needs repair in the first few months its a black eye on you in the customers view and bad for business..

STOP SELLING GOODMAN AND YOUR PROBLEMS WILL GO AWAY!!! Lol:)

And if you're crazy enough to believe super's statement, then I've got some "OCEAN FRONT PROPERTY IN ARIZONA" for sale at a reasonable price. I can't believe you had TWO units with same problem, regardless of brand! My guess would be that these units were installed on a contaminated system!:gah:

Every manufacturer is using POS Chinese reversing valves, only way to avoid them is stop selling heat pumps

I used to work for a construction company that installed equipment in poor homes for state programs. We all got payed prevailing wage ($40/hr) to do HVAC work, so the owner bought Goodman almost exclusively to keep the cost down. I never saw a bad reversing valve out of the box, but I had four bad compressors (Copeland) out of the box in one season. Goodman sent us four compressors which we changed out and used the condensers the following week with no problems, confirming that the compressors were indeed bad, as no one actually ohmed out the compressors that were bad to determine the fault. I am a big fan of a lot of the higher end Amana equipment, but I will never have a Goodman in my yard.

The 2 lines are identical

The two lines are both owned by Goodman. You are right. My only point is my experience, which is limited to what I have seen in the field. I have had so many problems with 13 SEER Goodman that I don't want to see them new out of the box. I would rather work on a twenty year old Day & Night instead. But I have recently been quite impressed by an 18 SEER Amana that I installed that I would sell the unit myself.
The problem lies in the components themselves. For example, I think that a Copeland scroll compressor is a good product. But the same capacity Copeland scroll compressor is sold in three different tiers. Best, Better, and Whatever. You get what you pay for.
If you are charging top dollar for the cheapest equipment you can find, you may be a smart businessman, but ethically you are right above a thief. If you are charging top dollar for the best, you are a true success in that transaction.
I could be wrong in what I have just said. If I am, please correct me.

I'm curious how switching from one brand of boxes, filled with a Copeland compressor and a collection of cheep Chinese parts, to another brand of boxes, filled with a Copeland compressor and a collection of cheep Chinese parts, will solve anyone's problems?

Trane is still just a box filled with a Copeland compressor and a collection of cheap chinese parts. :p
The box just has above average fit and finish.

Somehow the orange paint makes a Copeland seem so much better.
Two faulty goodmans in a row.........I don't doubt it based on my recent history with their equipment. I try and stay away from that brand now.

I haven't read anything here yet about the type of comp. failures. Short to ground, short between windings, open circuit, not pumping? It's funny QC didn't check for this stuff before the unit leaves tha factory...
