3 ton HVAC gas package

I'm purchasing a house that has a 19 year old 3 ton hvac gas package. I have had different estimates ranging from $$$ - $$$ what hvac unit does everyone recommend? One of the contractors said that a 2.5 ton package would work. The house has 1700 sqft 4bedrooms and 2 bath

Go with the company that does a Manual J on the house first and foremost, along with a duct inspection (Manual S and D) That's the company I'd go with.

For a gas pack I rather like York's Affinity for 1 reason: the heat exchanger is not in the cold air supply so it won't rot out early like the rest of the industry.

But, yes, find a dealer who will size it right!
