Hi ... Couple of questions ... I'm been gathering quotes for have 2 new systems installed in my residence ...
I'm getting quotes that recommend :
XL15i (2 Ton & 2.5 Ton)
4TWX5030B with TAM7A0B30
4TWX5024B with TAM7A0A24
Others say:
XL15i (2 Ton & 2.5 Ton)
4TWX5030A with TAM7A0C36
4TWX5024A with TAM7A0B30
So some installers feel that the Air Handler should be 30,000 BTU on the 2 Ton and some feel the Air Handler should be 24,000 ...
And some feel that the Air Handler should be 36,000 BTU on the 2.5 Ton and others feel 30,000 will do ...
What's do you all recommend and why?
Thanks ...

Your equipment should be chosen using you latent and sensible heat load to determine and adjust your airflow according to your sensible heat ratio

Since it is variable speed there is some wiggle room with the AH in case of space constraints but a proper load calculation needs to be done to determine the condenser size and, as Second Opinion said, your sensible and latent load which is dramatically impacted by the various ARI rated combinations of equipment.

The XL15i HP is one of the best sgl stg condensers on the residential market.
Plus it has electronic demand defrost which reduces/eliminates nuisance, unnecessary, and expensive defrost calls.
I will assume you are sized correctly.
Strictly by the AHRI HP directory, The TAM70B30H21 is the best choice in the 7 series for both the 2 ton and 2 1/2 ton condenser on performance/efficiency numbers. If my decision, this would be my selection. I recommend new and correctly sized linesets for each system and at the very least the 803/8321 thermostat for good humidity control in NC.
Just for info, I did not see the TAM7036 air handler even listed as an AHRI match for the 2 1/2 ton system.

My bad.
A correction please from my post from yesterday.
The Tam7036 air handler is the best choice for the 2 1/2 ton XL15i HP condenser.
Refer to AHRI matching number 5021599 especially if you feel you require the extra cooling BTUs. If not the 030 would be just fine.
