I am a former owner of an HVAC business. Since I closed the door in '04, I have done some consulting work around the southeast. Last October, after being chased by a company for weeks, I agreed to come to work for them as their GM. This company paid all moving expenses, etc, and on March 1st, showed me the door. When I asked why, they could not give me a good reason. I have learned that the owner's wife had a lawsuit against her, and since I was due a profit sharing check the choice was between paying me or the lawsuit. Now I am stuck in northern Alabama and need to find a job. Not sure if I want to go to Florida or try my luck elsewhere in the Southeast. I have a family and want a good area for my kids to go to school and to make a good living. I could go back to consulting or move back to my homestate of Georgia(Hall County), but back home folks don't really want to hire someone who is licensed because they are afraid I will open another business and take their customers. Thanks for your help..
