On another thread, I am seeing posts about what happens to CERTAIN Tstats.
I'm sure some are far worse than others, but I would like to see:
1. who uses what
2. on what type of system, and
3. what is your favorite.

for me:
1. I like White Rogers 1F78-144 or better yet 1F86-344
reasons, easy to read, easy to install, inexpensive
2. Most of what I encounter is straight 1 stage heat and 1 stage cool, in a basement, split AC.
3. I prefer White Rodgers, but use Honeywell sometimes

I avoid and discourage customers from using LUX, I have had 4-5 that will not work or will not program (Right out of the box) customer purchased.

I like to use the honeywell pro3000 or pro 4000 t stats. Very easy to install and operate. I run into slot of bad white Rodgers 70 series. Most of them get a frozen screen

Would like to see how the new nest Brand thermostat is

I put a White Rodgers IF95-1291. Cheaper than a Honeywell VisionPro IAQ. Does a few things better and few things not as well. I like the big easy to read screen.

Actually if they switched the operation to adjustable cycles per hour, and made the outdoor thermostat adjust indoor humidification levels, I'd like it better.

I like that you have 1% increments for the humidity setpoint. I don't like that it cycles humidity control by simply going +/= 2% rather than using PID logic.

It is more of the customer's preference.

For instance the Lennox comfort sense 7000 is great. But it will drive MOST "baby boomers" crazy. Or it will drive most of the front desks person crazy too.

But if the customer is on the technology edge - Then Lennox comfort sense 7000 or Icomfort.

But I prefer Honeywell, which has 5 years warranty - commercial of residential.

We like the Honeywell 5000 and 6000 series, large display as well. Fairly simple to operate and not as costly as the 8000. Pretty reliable and easy sell with a 5-yr. warranty. They look better with the wall plate behind it!

Lennox comfort sense 5000 or Icomfort on most new installs and T87 for most seniors.
Pro 3000 for rental and collage units.

not a fan of pro select thermostats either. my company bought a couple boxs of them cause they are cheap. well, you get what you pay for.

I like the Honeywell PRO series stats because they have the option to be powered by the furnace if you have extra conductors.

for most new installs I use the VisionPRO IAQ since most of my installs are 2 stage and its quicker than pulling new stat wire for a regular 2 stage stat.

I like the white rodgers 70 series because they're cheap and reliable.
Don't like their BLUE series because I can't see the screen when the back light is on.

for commericial I like the PRO1 basic stat with 2H/2C. simple mechanical heat/cool switches and it indicates if system is in 1st or 2nd stage (honeywell does not)

No better thermstat on the market than the Honeywell 5000 6000 and 8000. simple to operate and easy to read and accurate

We stock the pro1 iaq t701/t721 thermostats on all the trucks. We also have t751 tstats and Emerson 8000 touchscreen tstats in the shop. Those cover 99% of our tstats needs.

I'm a Honeywell guy through and through. We use the White Rodgers 1F86 for our budget systems and but everyone else gets VP8000's. I am completely impressed by all the Honeywell RedLink stuff as well. The Honeywell TotalConnect online access is going to be a huge seller for us. I want to put it in my house so I can do real world demos in the field.

Ditto, unless it's a full communicating system (York) we use the Affinity control. Used to work for a Carrier dealer and loved (most of the time) the Infinity control as well. I like the Edge humidistat for its 2-piece install on retros with only 2 wire installed and the relays are at the equipment. No clicky-clicky for the picky-picky. :grin2:

Its honeywell products. The only thing I don't like about honeywell is that you can pick them up at the do-it-yourself home places. I wish they were like white rogers and wouldn't sell to the public. 6000/8000 are great stats and I really like the tcon acon 802's.

I used one in my own home for many years without a problem.

I had one 5 years ago. I disliked in for the simple fact that is cycled based solely on tmeprature, and not other logic whatsoever. THe temp swings were really wide +/- 1.5-2F. I went to a basic honeywell and it made a huge difference. Not an expensive honeywell model l any means. Probably only 20% more expensive than the hunter.

We sale a lot of CTC Indiglo which is a Hunter product (or vice versa) if I'm not mistaken. Hardly ever have issues with them, the novelty of the backlit tstat has worn off, but if I recall the Indiglo was one of the first to come out with such cutting edge technology as a inexpensive option.

I have started gravitating toward Honeywell or Emerson for higher end jobs and sometimes ProTech or TopTech for simple service change outs.

Also have started selling the same brand of stat as the equipment where possible especially with Trane.

I switched to Honeywell after trane did.

But I just about gave up on them because of the POS Chronotherm.

I do mostly light commercial and use the TB822's, although the last job got
T7350's which were specd. I quit using the 7300 after the issues with the Reliatel modules. And used the Trane digital stats (666) which people freakin HATED!:gah: Thank God for the touch screens!

I use touchscreens on all resi unless it is low ball and try to steer all high end users to the touch IAQ as it is a "stealthy stat". The more I look at the Prestige IAQ 2.......... it is now my main choice to suggest.

Touchscreens rock and chicks dig them.

True, me too. I hated them until this one, and so far they've been great. I only wish it had a way to use a remote sensor for the indoor temp. Otherwise its nice.

They are the communicating stats for Trane/Am Std. They also control zoning. You can get an interface module that you can use to connect any brand non communicating unit.

I like the Prestige IAQ. Blows the customer away. When someone buys a new system for 10,000 dollars. Its nice for them to see something on the wall that they can show their friends.
